Production of legumes increases

The production of legumes has increased during last years. That’s partly caused and supported through the EU government and the requirements for “greening” in the agriculture production. 

In order to increase and stimulate the production of soyabeans, the German government is additional subsidizing a local production.
Most important for the the production of soybeans, pea grains, lupins or field beans will be a specific crop related fertilization strategy.


Specific requirements

Legumes are capable to use atmospheric nitrogen via symbiosis and the rhizobium. But not only nitrogen – also potassium, phosphorus sulphur, magnesium and the micronutrients boron, molybdenum, manganese and zinc will be essential for growth.
For the optimized capability of using atmospheric nitrogen, it’s absolutely necessary that all these nutrients will be sufficient supplied and available for legumes. First possibility can be the basic fertilization with granulars via the soil.

Potassium is essential for the stimulation of the rhizobium, the flowering and the protein content of the legumes. Manganese and magnesium will enhance the resistance against diseases and stimulate the plant health. Last but not least, sulphur will be essential for the ideal yield and protein content.

Foliar fertilization

Unfavourable weather conditions (cold, wet, dry) and/or undersupply can cause deficiency for several nutrients. A strong lack of nutrients will be always visible at the leafes. But also non-visible (latend) undersupply of nutrients will reduce yield and quality. The “complex leafe/plant analysis” can help to analyse the level of supply for each nutrient. This will help to utilise yield and quality with the best fertilization strategy.
Lebosol® is offering a broad range of formulated leave fertilizers which can be used for legumes.
Leaf analysis have shown frequently an undersupply with molybdenum, boron and manganese. Besides unfavourable weather conditions also a low pH value of the soil can cause some deficiency. The foliar application with Lebosol®-Molybdän, Lebosol®-Bor and Lebosol®-Mangan GOLD SC will ensure an efficient plant nutrition.

In case of an undersupply with macro-elements, Lebosol®-Schwefel 800 SC and Lebosol®-PK-Max can be used for the nutrition with sulphur, phosphorus and potassium. All three elements are essential for the nitrogen utilization.

The application of foliar fertilizers can be done in combination with plant protection products (attention: test of mixability). Best application time for foliar fertilizer will start with the beginning of the 6-leaf-growth stage.  

Reduction of stress

Improvement of soil herbicides

Weather conditions (e.g. heat stress, dry weather) or herbicide applications can cause physiological plant stress.  Aminosol® (amino acids) will help to reduce physiological stress and can be combined directly with the herbicide application. 

The efficacy and selectivity of herbicides can be improved by the combination with the adjuvant Herbosol®

Herbosol with 0,4 l/ha will improve the stability and reliability of the herbicide without washing out and shifting of active incrediants into the soil (“bleaching symptoms”).
